History and Facts: This breed originated in the Netherlands during the 1800s where it was bred to be an all-purpose farm dog. Difficulties in breeding standards has hindered its popularity. Although it is related to the Belgian Shepherd, it has more German Shepherd ancestry.

Temperament / Behavior
The Dutch Shepherd is similar to the Belgian Shepherd. It is a working dog that makes an excellent herder, police dog, and guard / watch dog.
