History and Facts: Morten Bak from Denmark began crossing local farm dogs with gypsy dogs in the 1700s to produce the Old Danish Pointer. These bloodlines produced a breed with excellent scent-detecting and pointing abilities.

Temperament / Behavior
The Old Danish Pointer is a pro at tracking, pointing and retrieving. The breed's quiet demeanor makes it a good family dog. This breed is also known for its courage and tenacity.

Excellent health record. No known hereditary conditions.

Special Needs
Exercise: This is an energetic breed that requires a fair amount of exercise. As long as the Old Danish Pointer gets sufficient exercise, it will make a good family dog. However, this dog is not a good choice for apartment dwellers.

Grooming: The Old Danish Pointer requires regular brushing and bathing.
