History and Facts: The Lundehund has been mentioned in Norwegian records as early as the 1400s, but the breed became better documented in the 1800s. Lundehunds were originally used to hunt puffins, which are Norwegian birds similar in appearance to the penguin.

Temperament / Behavior
Affectionate, playful and social. Lundehunds make great lap dogs that love to play with toys (if you're playing with them, too). This breed generally warms up to strangers quickly. However, it has an independent streak can make obedience training and housebreaking a challenge. Patience and consistency are key.

Special Needs
Exercise: Due to its hunting nature, the Lundehund requires frequent exercise, including daily walks, jogs, romps or play sessions.

Grooming: No special grooming requirements.
