History and Facts: The breed originated in the Gascony region of southern France and is a descendant of the Spanish and Italian Pointers. Dr. Castest and M. Sanac-Langrange saved the breed from extinction during the early 1900s.

The French Setter is an active, eager-to-please breed that is best trained with gentleness. It thrives on human interaction and enjoys the company of other animals. The French Setter is a loving household companion.
