History and Facts: Today's Finnish Hounds originated from a breeding program during the 1800s. German, French and Swedish Hounds were used as the foundation for the new breed.

Temperament / Behavior
The Finnish Hound will follow a scent, but not retrieve. It's a gentle, but active breed that gets along well with children. The breed tends to make a mediocre watch dog due to its calm, amiable nature.

Excellent health record. No known hereditary conditions.

Special Needs
Exercise: The Finnish Hound requires moderate exercise. This dog is not recommended for apartment life.

Grooming: The Finnish Hound needs minimal grooming: occasional brushing and bathing.
