History and Facts: Although the exact origination of the English Foxhound is unknown, strict breeding records have been maintained since the 1700s. During the 1750s, the English Foxhound gained popularity as a fox hunting dog among the upper class.

Temperament / Behavior
The English Foxhound is a loving, gentle family companion that loves children and other animals. However, they are not normally recommended for homes with small children or cats due to their strong hunting instincts. They can be somewhat difficult to train and have a tendency to bark.

Breed-Related Health Concerns
Not suited for city / apartment dwellers. Requires an experienced dog owner.

Special Needs
Exercise: English Foxhounds need plenty of space to run, but must always be walked on a leash.

Grooming: The English Foxhound needs minimal grooming: occasional brushing and bathing.
