History and Facts: Named after the region formerly known as Yugoslavia, popular legend has it that this breed was originally from Egypt and was later brought to Europe by the Phoenicians around 1000 B.C. This breed is still used by boar hunters and police today.

The Balkan Hound is intelligent, energetic, tenacious and good-natured.
