Another one of the most ancient dog breeds, the Pharaoh Hound has been around for more than three thousand centuries. These dogs may have been introduced to Malta by early travelers from Greece and North Africa. This breed closely resembles the Egyptian god of dogs, Anubis.
The breed is the national dog of Malta and was recognized by the AKC in 1983. One of the Pharaoh Hounds most unique characteristics is its tendency to glow when excited.
