History and Facts: Considered one of the first German scenthounds from Ancient Times, the breed was only officially recognized in 1955. Steinbrackes originated in northwestern Germany and continues to be a fine companion and hunting partner today.

Temperament / Behavior
Enthusiastic and willing, this hardy dog enjoys tracking large and small game in rough terrain. This breed can be stubborn and requires firm, consistent training. The Steinbracke's calm and even temperament is suited for companionship for an individual or family.

Breed-Related Health Concerns
Excellent health record. No known hereditary conditions.

Special Needs
Exercise: Due to its hunting nature, the Steinbracke requires frequent walks, runs, romps and play sessions. Hunting activities are preferred by this breed.

Grooming: The Steinbracke requires regular brushing.
