History and Facts: This breed has its roots in 16th century France, where it were used to hunt wild hare. Recognized by the AKC in 1990, the breed has become quite popular among dog fanciers.

Temperament / Behavior
The Petit Basset Griffon Vendee is a happy, sociable breed that performs well in obedience classes - especially if socialized early. If treated gently, this breed gets along well with children. Although somewhat possessive, this breed also integrates well with other pets, but exhibits a tendency to bark. The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen adapts well to life in almost any household environment as long as it gets plenty of exercise.
