History and Facts: The papillon was developed as a companion dog for royalty during the 1500s. Marie Antoinette and Madame de Pompadour were early lovers and owners of this breed.

Temperament / Behavior
papillon's are gentle, friendly dogs that can be easily trained. If socialized early, this breed will adore children and other pets.

Breed-Related Health Concerns
Patellar luxation; deafness

Special Needs
Exercise: The papillon needs little exercise, but will enjoy long, brisk walks.

Grooming: The papillon needs groomed several times per week, as well as trimmed quarterly (every 3 months).
