National Dog Week

National Dog Week is kicking off on September 20 and we think it’s the best week of the year! Started in 1928 by famed dog lover, Captain Will Judy, the week was dedicated to the devoted service of dogs during World War I. As dog lovers, we all know how important the loyalty and love of a dog can be, which is why we continue to celebrate National Dog Week!

Bil-Jac is celebrating National Dog Week with you this September! Be sure to share photos of your favorite pooch with us on Flickr and send your love letters to Bil-Jac on

For the Love of Bil-Jac

"The vet said that this is the healthiest 14 year old that he’s ever seen, and I have the blood work to prove it! Jack loves Bil-Jac Senior and I love what it does for him!"

Pup on the Run
Our husky/collie mix, Aspen, has been a Bil-Jac dog for six years now. He loves to go tent camping with us. He has his own camp mat and special toys that are just for camping and of course a little box of Bil-Jac treats which visitors can give him.

In May he went to Virginia Beach and had a wonderful time. It was Aspen’s first time at the ocean and what an adventure that was! He loved the sand and he and his "daddy" played their favorite game we call Run Puppy (it is like a game of tag). Aspen is very social and enjoys meeting new people and their dogs so for him, it was great.

Bil-Jac’s New Look

This fall, Bil-Jac's formula will be coming to you with a new look! The new Bil-Jac packaging features a tribute to Bil-Jac's roots, the original Bil-Jac Frozen food delivery van! Bil-Jac's favorite four-legged friends will also be making their debut on the front of the new packaging. The new look also comes with more chicken in each bag to keep your pup healthy and strong! It's a new look and an ehanced formula with more fresh chicken but the same great Bil-Jac taste your best friends have come to know and love.

We Want to Know ...

Dogs change and enrich our lives everyday, which is why they're our heros and best friends. Tell us why your dog is your hero!

Dealing with a Bad Doggie!

Sometimes your pup’s behavior leaves a lot to be desired. Destructive chewing is one problem every dog owner faces at some point. Break those bad habits with these tips from Joel Silverman, Bil-Jac dog trainer and author of "What Color is Your Dog?"

  • Keep your belongings out of your dog’s reach. Move clothing, shoes, books, trash and even your eyeglasses where your dog can’t get to them. If you don’t want him chewing on it, don’t make it available.
  • Avoid giving your pups shoes and socks as toys and expect him to tell the difference between what he can and cannot chew on.
  • Spending quality time with your dog prevents bad behavior. If he learns proper behavior through "people-time," it gives him fewer opportunities to engage in inappropriate behavior.
  • Whenever you are unable to supervise your best friend, place him in a "crate" or an enclosed area where he cannot access items that he may be tempted to chew on.
  • If you catch Fido chewing on your favorite slippers, interrupt him with a loud noise and offer him an acceptable chewing alterntative instead.

Dr. Bingham’s Nutrition Corner

Starting this fall, Bil-Jac is adding more fresh chicken to our dry food formula! Bil-Jac has always used much more fresh chicken than any other brand of dry dog food, and now we’ve added even more! Now, every six pound bag of Bil-Jac will contain four pounds of fresh chicken. Protein is an important nutrient for your best friend’s growth and development as well as for strengthening his immune system. Proteins are made up of essential amino acids that dogs must consume. A deficiency in any of the amino acids can cause health related problems. The formula is also enhanced with flax seed for even more Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids for skin and coat health.
